My current research is focussed on applied and theoretical apsects of metacognition. Basic projects include investigation of the cognitive mechanisms underlying confidence judgments about positive and negative recognition decisions, models of monitoring and control processes in episodic memory, and confidence in guesses. Applied projects are centred around eyewitness memory issues and include metacognitive influences on choosing in eyewitness identification (with Neil Brewer and Gary Wells, Iowa State University), regulation of reporting of eyewitness memories, and discriminating accurate from inaccurate eyewitness identification decisions. Additionally, recent work has investigated metacognition and ageing (with Tim Perfect, University of Plymouth).
